April 2010: Cape East Haparanda, Sweden

We will be staying at Cape East in Haparanda.

During the winter we will visit Florida for its sunny climate. At the end of April we will visit northernmost Sweden, on the Finnish border, which has, due to its northerly location, extraordinary long daylight hours. There will still be some snow on the ground, transforming the surrounding light. We will hear the masses of ice as they break up and come down the river. We will probably see some reindeer and elk (called "moose" in North America).

Finland is a mere stone's throw away. The home of Father Christmas is about 100 miles away from Haparanda according to the massive tourist industry nearby. There are numerous charter flights that arrive during the Christmas season. The sun never makes it above the horizon during the winter. However, the reflection of the moonlight on the snow provides for sufficient natural light for daily activities.

Lectures will start at 8 am and continue to 6 pm, from Monday to Friday. Group work will be held after a dinner break. We will focus on real estate administration.

We plan to visit PARTAB and Lindbäcks Bygg. PARTAB makes prefabricated bathrooms and Lindbäcks Bygg builds prefabricated residential houses in modules.
